SUFFOLK Charges Past AMC 5-1

PAXTON, Mass. (10.01.11) – The Suffolk University men's soccer team captured their fourth victory of the season with a 5-1 win over Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup at Paxton's Klingle field on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Rams to 4-7 (3-2 GNAC) on the season, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 2-10-1 (0-4 GNAC).

Senior midfielder Danny Lloyd (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) led the Rams with 2 goals and an assist. Scoring single goals for Suffolk were Andres Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela), Babacar Sembene (Dakar, Senegal) and Olivier Dacosta (Dakar, Senegal). Freshman Niang Djibril (Dakar, Senegal) added two assists.

The AMCATS' Justin Hyland (Leicester, Mass.) scored the lone goal for AMC.

Suffolk scored in the 5th minute of the game when Djibril made a cross into the box that Sembene stroked into the net for the 1-0 lead. The AMCATS battled back and received a game-tying goal from Justin Hyland when he buried a header to make the game 1-1. Andres Huertas picked up the assist on the goal with a touch pass from 40 yards out.

Suffolk played strong and scored two goals before the half. Andres Cohen scored on a give-and- go with Danny Lloyd in the 16th minute to make it a 2-1 game, and then Lloyd scored his first of two goals on a break-a-way in the 32nd minute.

Suffolk's Lloyd scored his second of the game in the 63rd minute and Dacosta scored in the 73rd minute to make it a 5-1 game.

The AMCATS return to action on Wednesday, October 5th when they host Emerson at 7:00pm
