Men's Soccer Pickes Up First GNAC WIn

(Nashua, NH) The Anna Maria AMCATS earned their first GNAC win as the defeated the Rivier College Raiders, 2-0 in front of about 300 fans up at Raider Field this afternoon.

The AMCATS (3-13-1, 1-7 GNAC) got on the board early when junior Justin Hyland (Leicester, MA) set up sophomore Joe Cotrona (Southbridge, MA) inside the 7 minute mark. Fourteen minutes later, Mike Quirk converted a pass from Enco Lika for a 2-0 lead.

The teams would a scoreless second half with lots of scoring chances on both sides.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Bryar King (Berlin, NH) made nine saves while AMC senior Mike Dandurand (Warwick, RI) stopped all five shots he saw.

The Raiders (0-12, 0-9 GNAC) will look to obtain their first win of the season as they host Elms College on Thursday, October 20th. Anna Maria will travel to Lasell College on Wednesday night for their next contest.
