Bio

Nate Mayo was named Anna Maria College's men’s lacrosse coach in September 2014.

In the 2022 season, Mayo's eighth year as head coach of the AMCATS, the team won four straight games for the first time in the history of the program and would go on to finish 5-11 with a 3-5 record in GNAC play, their best season since 2019. Senior attacker Nick Massaro set the school record in career assists with 69, while Zack Lavoie was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The 2020-2021 season was Mayo's seventh year at the helm. Senior Tyler Shaw was named to the All-GNAC Sportsmanship Team.

Mayo arrived at Anna Maria from Belchertown High School, where he served as head coach and led the team to a program-best in wins.

Collegiately, Mayo has held head coaching positions at Wheelock College, Emerson College, and Nichols College. While at Emerson, he recruited student-athletes from the Northeast, California Colorado, Florida, and Maryland and doubled his team’s roster size.

Mayo has also held assistant coach positions at Division I and II levels at the University of Hartford and American International College.

A 2000 graduate of Worcester State College, Mayo completed his Bachelor’s Degree in communications. He obtained a Master of Education degree from Endicott College in 2006. Mayo has been an assistant principal at Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy (Springfield Public Schools) for the past eight years after serving as an English teacher for four years.  

He resides in Connecticut with his wife and two children.
