Pavoni, Schwarz, and Benning take All-Conference Honors

Paxton, Mass: This afternoon three Anna Maria Men’s Lacrosse players were announced onto the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference team. The AMCATS had two make First Team and one making Third Team.

Brandon Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) was the team’s leading scorer after the season was complete, earning him a spot on the GNAC First Team at Attack. Pavoni’s season was a continuation of improvement being that he finished with eighteen more points than he had last year. He finished with sixty-eight points, forty-five of those coming as goals and twenty-three by way of assists. As a Junior Pavoni is now Anna Maria’s all-time leading scorer with 166 total points.

Goalie Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, NY) took home GNAC First Team goalkeeper and was named to his second Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Paul has had an amazing career here at Anna Maria, where he has made a NCAA record breaking 1151 saves. That was good enough to set a new saves record throughout all divisions 1, 2, and 3. He will also end his career with the AMCATS saving 62% of the shots he faced, and holding every record possible for a tender here at Anna Maria.

Kyle Benning (Puyallup, WA) made it onto the GNAC’s Third Team as a defender. Benning this season scooped up thirty-six groundballs and caused nineteen turnovers. He even shot 100% from the field, scoring one goal on one shot. Just as a junior Benning has already put his name into the record books here at AMC, with his 120 total groundballs that is good enough to put him at ninth all-time.

The AMCATS look forward to building on from this seasons successes, as they were able to make it to the GNAC tournament as the fifth seed.
