Anna Maria fall to Bard on Senior Night

PAXTON, Mass – Monday evening marked the final home game of the season and senior day for the AMCATS men's lacrosse team. They hosted the Bard College Raptors out of New York in a non-conference matchup under the lights on AMCAT Field. The celebration of the four AMCAT Seniors went off without a hitch but, the game ended in favor of the Raptors, 13-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The AMCATS opened the scoring seven minutes in to the first quarter with an unassisted goal from senior Malik Griffith (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Not 15 second later, Bard equalized and added another goal with three and a half minutes, taking a 2-1 lead to the second.

The second belonged to the AMCATS as they scored two in the period including a man-up goal from Ryan Rockwal (Chicopee, Mass) which gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. Bard would tie the game up again with five minutes left, ultimately going to the half tied, 3-3.

The second half is where Bard took over and controlled the rest of the game. Anna Maria scored just one goal in the second half when Cameron Perry (Coventry, R.I.) scored with seven and a half minutes remaining in the fourth. Bard scored four goals in the third, followed by four more goals in the fourth before Perry's score. The eight goal unanswered run gave the visitors an 11-3 lead and after the AMC goal, the Raptors added two more. When all was said and done, the 16-man Bard Raptors had beaten the banged up AMCATS 13-4.
