Men's Lacrosse Shutout by Mount Ida in Season Finale

NEWTON, Mass. – Mount Ida College seniors recorded 15 points after being honored before their game on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field and helped the Mustangs roll to a 24-0 shutout of Anna Maria College in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale.

Lucas Stralka (E. Greenwich, R.I.), Mike Markevich (Westminster, Mass.), Chris Kidger (Groton, Mass.), Alex Scata (Farmington, Conn.), Steven Koziski (Peabody, Mass.), Nate Barron (Florence, Mass.), and Trevor Hendrix (Grafton, Mass.) were all recognized before playing their final regular season games, and Stralka, Markevich, Kidger, Scata, Koziski, and Barron all recorded goals in the win.

With six goals in each of the four periods, the Mustangs improved to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.  

Sophomore Da'zhon Johnston (Southhampton, Bermuda) added a hat trick, freshman Kyle Ton (Norwich, Conn.) notched two goals and an assist, and junior Peter Hardy (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored a goal and three assists. 

Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) and Tommy Thompson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) each played a half and combined to make three saves to earn the shutout.

For the AMCATS, who were outshot 65-15, freshman Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, N.Y.) made 22 saves. He concludes the season as the program leader in saves in a season (297) and also as the NCAA national leader in saves per game.

Senior Edward Jankowski (Billerica, Mass.) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers, though the Mustangs had a 59-23 edge in ground balls, led by six from Ryan Trinque (E. Greenwich, R.I.), while Alex Veloukas (Salem, Mass.) and Shayne Rix (Kingston, Mass.) caused four turnovers apiece.
