Cougars Cruise Past AMCATS in Men’s Lacrosse

Paxton, Mass. – Freshman Nick Johnson (Amherst, Mass.) scored four goals and dished out seven assists for an eleven point night to lead the Clark University men's lacrosse team to a 17-7 victory over host Anna Maria College on Monday evening at AMCAT Field. Anna Maria's Lucas Stralka (East Greenwich, RI) struck for four unassisted goals.

With the win Clark moves to 5-4 on the season while the AMCATS dip to 1-11 overall.

The Cougars shutout the AMCATS in the first half building a 9-0 advantage at halftime. Nick Johnson (Amherst, Mass.) got things started for Clark notching three of the teams' first five goals as the Cougars would hold a 5-0 advantage just minutes into the second stanza. Junior Peter Chrisiansen (Seattle, Wash.)  potted a natural hat trick and John Goracy (Lumberton, NJ) added his first of three goals to close out the half.

The third quarter was all Clark as five different Cougars added goals to build a 16-0 lead with 2:59 to play in the stanza. With 1:10 remaining in the frame sophomore Lucas Stralka would tip the twine for the first AMCAT score of the night.

Jacob Parker (Baldwinville, Mass.) opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter for Anna Maria as he converted a pass from Jamison Crowley (Southington, Conn.) top shelf past the Clark netminder. Stralka followed with his second goal of the game with 6:33 to play to cut the deficit to 16-3. Next, Clark's Lucas Petricione-Berg added his first of the season before Stralka and Rod Henriques (Saugus, Mass.) would each tally a pair of scores for the 17-7 final.

Nathan Batallas (Templeton, Mass.) led the AMCATS with eight groundballs, while freshman Franco Francioso (Walpole, Mass.) made nine saves in the loss.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday evening when they host GNAC rival Johnson and Wales University at 7:00 p.m.
