Johnston Shuts The Door As Mens Ice Hockey Beats The Lancers 7-0

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team hosted the Worcester State Lancers at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, MA. The AMCATS won 7-0 over the Lancers

THE BASICS:

• Date: Tuesday, November 22, 2022
• Score: Worcester State 0, Anna Maria 7
• Records: Worcester State 2-5-0 | Anna Maria AMCATS 4-5-0

HIGHLIGHTS

• After some back and forth to start the first period the AMCATS are the first on the board with a goal from Braeden McKinnon at 11:57 into the first. McKinnon was assisted by Matt Byrnes.
• Worcester State was able to hang on for the rest of the first period with their Goaltender Anthony Shrum stopping 13 of 14 shots to try and give the lancers a chance going into the second.
• McKinnon strikes again with his second goal of the night 7:21 into the second period. He was assisted by Brandon Della Paolera.
• Shortly after the Lancers are met with a Goal from Patrik Peltola (unassisted) who scored just over a minute after to put the AMCATS up 3-0, 8:25 into the second.
• The Lancers aren't able to hold on for very long as Guillaume Coulombe puts in his 6th goal of the season with just under two minutes left in the second period. He was assisted by Michael Padgeon.
• Despite being outshot in the second period the AMCATS lead 4-0 going into the third period. Johnston stopping 17 shots to hold the Lancers at 0.
• The AMCATS didn't let up in the third putting up three more goals in the second half of the period. Goals from Matthew Gilbert (assisted by: Ishmael Carrington and Giovanni Perillo), Brandon Della Paolera (assisted by: Matthew Byrne and Braeden McKinnon) and the final goal scored by Pearce Baker on the Power Play (assisted by: Della Paolera and Byrne) 
• Goaltender Cole Johnston collected his first career Shutout, posting 34 saves on 34 shots.
• Braeden McKinnon, Matthew Byrne and Brandon Della Paolera come out on top, each collecting 3 points on the night.
