Men’s Ice Hockey Upsets Saint Anselm, 5-2

MANCHESTER, NH: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team won 5-2 at Division II Saint Anselm College on Saturday evening in Manchester, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Down 2-1 entering the third period, the AMCATS rallied in dominant fashion with four unanswered goals to claim the victory.
  • Anna Maria freshman right wing Matthew Byrne (Penticton, BC) scored the eventual game winner just 59 seconds into the third period, assisted by freshman left wing Samuel Gaudreau (Cornwall, ON).
  • The AMCATS also had goals from senior center and team captain Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC), junior right wing Michael Padgeon (Sellersville, PA) and two from senior left wing Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA).
  • Saint Anselm junior Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) notched a goal and an assist to lead the Hawks with two points. Junior Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) registered the other Hawks goal while freshman Luke Mix (Winchester, Mass.) and senior Kilian Hammersmith (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) joined Hayes with assists.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Tuesday when they travel to Worcester State for a 4:40 p.m. game.
