Men's Hockey Shutsout Golden Bears, 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, MASS: The Anna Maria Men's Ice Hockey team gathered the first AMCAT win of the 2020 season against Western New England this afternoon 2-0.

 THE BASICS:

Records: WNE (3-7-1), Anna Maria (7-3-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a scoreless first period, the AMCATS got on the bored 17:03 into the second on a goal from Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, IL) after a feed from teammate Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA).  

-  The Golden Bears were unable to respond throughout the contest as AMCAT tender Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) was able to shut them down with 21 saves.

-  Anna Maria did add on to their lead in the third with just 30 seconds left to end it with the 2-0 final. Patrick Manning (Messena, NY) found the empty net to extend the lead after Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC) found him cutting to it.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Anna Maria outshot WNE 27 to 21.

-  Western New England had more penalty minutes than the AMCATS with 12 minutes on 2 infractions, compared to AMC's 8 minutes on 4 infractions.   

-  Anna Maria was 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Golden Bears were 0-for-3
