Rapoza Named WACBA Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

Worcester, Mass.-- Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team was named the Worcester Area Collegiate Basketball Association (WACBA) Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 29th. This is Rapoza's first time earning WACBA Rookie of the Week honors.

Rapoza averaged 18.5 points and 15.0 rebounds in an 0-2 week for the AMCATS. The big man had 21 points and 12 boards in 39 minutes against Emmanuel before producing 16 points and 18 rebounds at Suffolk en route to his third consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week honor.

The rookie has had an outstanding season thus far, recording a total of 14 double-doubles. He has been named the GNAC Rookie of the Week four times this season and currently leads the team averaging 17.4 points per game and 13.2 rebounds per game. Rapoza leads the GNAC in rebounds per game (13.2) and field goal percentage (62.6). He is fifth in the conference in points per game (17.4).

The AMCATS are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Lasell for a 7:00 p.m. GNAC contest.
