Men's Basketball: AMCATS No. 1 Seed in GNAC Tournament

BOSTON, Mass. - The 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Basketball tournament pairings have been announced as the Anna Maria College AMCATS will be the No. 1 seed in next week's action. The AMCATS will make their first appearance as the No. 1 seed after making it to last year's finals before falling to Albertus Magnus College. Anna Maria enters the tournament on an impressive 15-game winning streak, with all the wins coming in conference action. The AMCATS boast an 18-7 overall record and a 16-2 GNAC slate.

Anna Maria will face #8 Emmanuel College on Tuesday, February 19th at 7:00 pm at the Fuller Activities Center.  The AMCATS swept the Saints in regular season play. On January 31st the AMCATS squeaked out a 55-54 victory on the road and just last Tuesday evening handed Emmanuel a 90-67 defeat at home.

Albertus Magnus will look to defend its 2012 GNAC title as the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season with a 21-4 overall record and a 15-3 GNAC mark.

Johnson & Wales University clinched the No. 3 seed with a dramatic win over Albertus Magnus to close out the regular season with a 13-5 GNAC record, finishing 14-11 overall.

Rounding out the top four seeds is Emerson College. The Lions finished the regular season with a 13-5 conference record and a 15-10 overall mark.
