2018 Field Hockey Season Preview

PAXTON, Mass - With the start of the season a few weeks away, the Anna Maria field hockey team is on campus for preseason practices leading up to the 2018 season.

Earlier this month, Head coach Brooke Brigham and the AMCATS released their 2018 schedule which will consist of seventeen games, seven of which will be GNAC contests. Four of the seven conference matchups will come in the last four games of the season against Regis, new GNAC member Colby-Sawyer, Simmons on Senior Day and Johnson & Wales to finish the regular season on the road.

In her third season as head coach, Coach Brigham has five first year student-athletes joining the program to play alongside eleven returning players from the team's 2017 season which was a successful one as the team made the playoffs. 

The AMCATS start the season with a three-game home stand starting with New England College Tuesday September 4that 7:00 pm. Followed by Dean on Thursday September 6that 5:00 pm, and their first GNAC conference game of the season against Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday September 8th at 12:00 pm. After, the home stand Field Hockey will be on the road for two games to then return home for another three-game stint. 

The total split for home vs away games for the Amcats is eleven home games to just six games on the road. Field Hockey will be traveling to play teams like Bridgewater State, Clark University, and Worcester State. 

The 'Cats are looking to build off of last season's big wins against Rivier and Regis in conference action one of which coming on senior day.
