- The Lead: Junior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) scored three goals and sophomore Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) tallied two goals and two assists to help lead Saint Joseph's College past Anna Maria College, 7-0, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey regular season finale at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Saint Joseph's clinches the second seed, and a first-round bye, in the GNAC Tournament, which begins with a quarterfinal round next Saturday. The Monks will host the winner of the #3 Simmons College / #6 Anna Maria College quarterfinal contest, which will be played at Daly Field in Boston at 11:00 AM on Saturday, on Wednesday, November 1st.

How It Happened:

-The Monks scored early and often in the blowout victory, as Pomerleau netted a pair in the first eight minutes while Kelly and junior Samantha Silva (Laconia, N.H.) both hit pay dirt in the first half to lift the hosts to a 4-0 cushion at the break.

-Early in the second stanza, Kelly completed the hat trick with two goals in a matter of one minute and 31 seconds, first at the 41:19 mark and again at 42:50, to extend the Monks' lead to 6-0. Junior Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) capped the scoring with a hard shot from the top of the circle on a penalty corner attempt in the 45th minute. Winslow was credited with an assist on the play.

THE KEEPERS:

Junior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) was untested in 42:40 minutes while sophomore Kaylin Mansir (West Gardiner, Maine) posted a pair of stops in 27:20 minutes of relief. AMCATS senior netminder Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) registered 13 saves in the losing effort.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's posted considerable leads in shots (34-2), shots on goal (21-2), and corners (16-2) on the afternoon.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 13-3 in the history of the series with Anna Maria College and has now defeated the AMCATS in four-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2015 campaign.
