- The Lead: The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team earned a 3-0 non-conference victory over Anna Maria, on a hot and humid Tuesday afternoon.

 

How It Happened:

-The Chargers tilted the field to their offensive end from the opening whistle and finally broke through with the game's first goal in the 20th minute. Junior Emily Hichborn (Exeter, N.H.) was in a group of players close to the cage when she ripped a shot past the goalie with her third score of the season and first game-winner.

-Colby-Sawyer took the 1-0 lead and an 8-1 margin in shots into halftime.

-Junior Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) doubled the home team's lead 22 minutes into the second half when she finished a one-timer from junior teammate Jordan Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.). The goal was Shuster's third of the season.

-Three minutes later, Teixeira set up sophomore teammate Alie Jones (Cape Neddick, Maine) for an insurance goal. Jones is now tied for the team lead in goals with five, while Teixeira recorded her team best fourth assist of the season.

 

Inside the Numbers

-Freshman goalie Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) made two saves to record her third shutout of the season.

-AMCATS senior goalie Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) had nine saves.

-The Chargers outshot Anna Maria 17-2 and had a 13-3 advantage in penalty corners.
