Field Hockey Blanks Bay Path, 3-0

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College field hockey team downed the visiting Wildcats of Bay Path College 3-0 on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at AMCAT Field.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 10-8 on the season, while the loss drops the Wildcats to 0-13.

The AMCATS struck early, as Nicole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) buried a feed from Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) just 3:45 into the game.

Junior Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) tallied her 19th goal of the 2014 campaign in the 26th minute to put the AMCATS up 2-0. Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) assisted on the goal.

Lowe added a second tally of the day, her 10th of the season, early in the second half. Moran had two shots saved by Bay Path goaltender Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.), but the second shot rebounded perfectly to Lowe's stick, giving her an easy opportunity to score.

AMCAT netminders Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) and Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) combined for the shutout. Tobin recorded one save on the day as the AMCATS outshot the Wildcats 13-1 on the afternoon.

Meyer totaled 10 saves in net for the Wildcats. Casey LaMotte (Enfield, Conn.) registered the Wildcats' lone shot-on-goal.

Anna Maria will be back in action on Saturday, as they host Lasell College in an important Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) meeting at 11:00 a.m. Both teams enter Saturday's game with 2-3 GNAC records, and the winning team will seal a No. 4 seeding entering the postseason tournament.

Prior to Saturday's start, the AMCATS will honor seniors Lowe and Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) for their contributions to the program.
