Breen Backbones AMCATS to Shutout Victory

AURORA, N.Y. – Capitalizing on just two shots on goal, the Anna Maria College field hockey squad shutout host Wells College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express have lost three straight games and fall to 1-4 overall on the season. The AMCATS, winners of three straight, improve to 4-3 overall on the year.

With just under 20 minutes expired in regulation, Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME) scored the first of two goals on the afternoon for the AMCATS. Dalbec sent home a feed from Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) for the game's first strike, what would eventually prove to be the game-winning goal. Dalbec's second strike on the day, in the 52nd minute, was sent home off of a Nicole Byrne (Littleton, Mass.) feed. Byrne's helper was her first collegiate point.

Express netminder Cassi Greene (Martville, N.Y.) drew her fourth loss of the season, allowing two goals on two shots on net. AMCATS goaltender Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, NH) posted her first career shutout with five-save performance. Defenseman Shelby Bourn (Sidney, N.Y.) recorded a defensive save in the losing effort. Amanda Hebert (South Deerfield, Mass.) posted a defensive save for Anna Maria.

The AMCATS get right back to work as they continue their tour of upstate New York traveling to Elmira College for a 1:00 pm tilt.
