AMCAT Field Hockey Recognized by NFHCA for Academic Success

Paxton, Mass. - The Anna Maria College field hockey team has been recognized by the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as one of the top academic teams in Division III. The AMCATS also saw 7 student-athletes named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.

One of 106 schools to be recognized, Anna Maria received the team recognition for achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Anna Maria's field hockey team boasts a cumulative grade point average of 3.09.

AMC's individuals named are Brooke Denver (New Britain, CT/NW Catholic), Kelsey Donnelly (Lakeville, MA/Apponequet), Katelynn Ketchum (Palmer, MA/Palmer), Shannon Looney (Leicester, MA/Leicester), Nicole Lowe (Saugus, MA/Saugus), Kristen Nolan (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) and Katie Schebel (Ludlow, MA/Agawam).

Donnelly, Denver, Nolan and Schebel were also recently selected to the NECC All-Academic Team by which a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standings.

Led by head coach Sharon Zenevitch, the AMCATS finished 8-12 in 2011 and advanced to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship game.
