Bant, Coach Zenevitch, Team Pick Up NECC Accolades

Wheelock College's Despina Savvoulides was chosen by the leagues coaches as the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Field Hockey Player of the Year. The junior forward tied for the league lead in points (13), goals (6) and game-winning goals (3) against conference teams playing only five matches.

Elms junior Alexandra Bonavita was honored as the league's top goalkeeper. Bonavita recorded a save percentage of .809 and a slim 2.44 goals against average during conference play.

Anna Maria first year Katherine Bant scored five goals with three assists for 13 points in conference play earning NECC Rookie of the Year accolades. Anna Maria head coach Sharon Zenevitch was voted Coach of the Year after leading her team to a 4-1 mark in conference play.

Anna Maria College has been honored with the league's Sportsmanship Award. NECC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
