PAXTON, Mass. (9.12.11) – Freshman Katherine Bant (Johnstown, NY) scored her second goal of the game four and a half minutes into overtime to lift the Anna Maria College field hockey team to 3-2 overtime win over Rivier College at AMCAT Field on Monday afternoon. The second win in as many days for AMC improves their record to 2-3 overall while the loss knocks the Raiders to 2-1 on the season.

Reining New England Collegiate College Player of the Week Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) scored a goal and freshman Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) picked up her second assist on the season.

The Raiders were paced by Kayla O'Reilly (Marshfield, Mass.) and Hilary Bouchard (Wells, Maine) who both had goals and Presleigh Skelley (Wolfboro, NH) chipped in an assist.

The Raiders tipped the scoresheet first with just seventeen seconds left in the first half. Skelley drove a hard ball from the right wing that O'Reilly tipped in for the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Anna Maria scored two goals less than two minutes apart to take the 2-1 lead. Bant put back her own rebound on a wrist shot to the right side to tie the game at 1-1. McClune knocked home her own rebound seconds later for the quick 2-1 advantage.

Rivier goaltender MaKenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass) was outstanding in net, making 19 saves on on the day. Flagg stopped a penalty shot taken by AMCATS' Katie Shebel (Ludlow, Mass) with just fifteen minutes to play to keep the score at one.

Hilary Bouchard tied the score in the 63rd minute on a seeing eye drive from the top of the 16 yard circle that found the back of the net.

In overtime the teams battled seven on seven with both teams having scoring opportunities.

Bant scored the game winner off a long pass from the right wing from Lowe and knocked home the game winner at 73:34.
