CHICOPEE, Mass. – Anna Maria College used an early first half goal from Katherine Bant (Johnstown, N.Y.) to help seal a 2-0 victory over the Blazers in Thursday afternoon's non-conference field hockey game at Leary Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 1-6 on the season, while Anna Maria improves to 3-5 overall.

Bant's score came in the ninth minute of play when she took a centering feed from Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass.) and struck the back of the cage for the game's first goal.

Bonavita held the AMCATS scoreless for the remainder of the first period before Marybeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal two minutes into the second frame.

Anna Maria led the shot count slightly in the first 35 minutes, 8-6 before enjoying a 10-2 advantage in the second stanza to help the AMCATS pull away to victory.

Anna Maria goalkeeper Marita Steinmetz (Grafton, Mass.) notched three saves in the losing effort as Elms' freshman forwards Tatiana Frizzell (Brattleboro, Vt.), Meghan Goodrow (Sunderland, Mass.) and midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) each registered a shot on goal.

Elms returns to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday, Oct. 1 when it hosts Daniel Webster College at 2:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
