Football Bested by the Builders of Apprentice

- PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Football team fell to the Apprentice School from Virginia this afternoon on AMCAT Field.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/5/2019

- Score: Apprentice 35, Anna Maria 20

- Records: Apprentice (3-1), Anna Maria (0-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS were able to get on the board after a 4th down stop of the Builders on their first drive of the game. Anna Maria drove 68 yards on 13 plays for the 4-yard touchdown pass from Emmanuel Leake (Providence, RI) to Alex Cohen (Plymouth, MA).

-  The Builders weren't able to answer until the second quarter after holding the AMCATS scoreless through the rest of the first. Their scoring drive that was capped off by a 4-yard Mason Tatum (Ashburn, VA) scamper.

- Apprentice would go on to score two more touchdowns in the 2nd scoring 21 unanswered points to go into the half.

- The Third started with another Builder touchdown that was answered with an Anna Maria score on an 8-yard pass from Leake to David Robinson (Boston, MA) to the far pylon.

- Apprentice would score one more time to reach their total of 35, with a 1-yard run by Theo Wheeler (Portsmouth, VA).

- Anna Maria would end the game with their final score in the contest to get the final of 35-20. The touchdown was on another connection from Leake to Robinson this time for 7-yards. The AMCATS also put up a two-point conversion right after on a throwback across the field to Cohen.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  The builders were led through the air by Tatum who finished 15-24 for 255 yards, 2 passing TD's, along with 2 rushing scores.

-  Trevon Hatch (Sussex, VA) got the brunt of the workload on the ground for Apprentice, with 23 carries for 126 yards.

-  On the Receiving end for the Builders Marcus Ricks (Midlothian, VA) ended with the team high in yards with 60 on 2 catches.

- Leake finished on top of the passing game for the AMCATS as he went 16-33 for 172 and 3 passing touchdowns.

- Robinson found the end zone twice this afternoon to go along with his 4 catches for 85 yards.

- Defensively the Builders were led by Jaivon Walker (Richmond, VA) who finished with 4 tackles and a half sack for a 10-yard loss.

- Tyshawn Anderson (Lynn, MA) finished with 14 total tackles, 1 sack, and a forced fumble for Anna Maria.


UP NEXT:

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 12th as they will travel all the way to Alfred State to start their conference portion of the schedule. Kickoff is set to be at 12:00 PM.
