Football Releases 2019 Schedule

PAXTON, Mass: Although Football season is over six months away, the Anna Maria coaching staff is excited to announce their 2019 season schedule.

"I am excited to announce our 2019 Schedule. We are looking forward to having more home games this season for our alumni, fans, and students", said Head coach Dan Mulrooney. "Our out of conference schedule combines local rivalries with historic academic/athletic programs, putting Anna Maria more into the national conversation in Division – III football." Compared to last year's three home games, the AMCATS will be hosting six contests this coming season.

The strength of schedule increased as Union (N.Y.) and RPI were added, with Union being the home opener for Anna Maria on September 14th. The increased difficulty in non-conference play will get the AMCATS into a great position to compete in conference action against other ECFC schools, where there was only a twenty-eight-point difference a season ago. "The ECFC is in transition currently with only five conference teams outside of us", added Mulrooney. "We are excited to be able to compete in the ECFC in 2019 and believe we will continue to show growth as our experience keeps improving."

Anna Maria just finished a season where they had one of the youngest teams on campus, with forty-eight freshmen overall and nineteen of which made the forty-four man two deep throughout the year.

The squad brings back quarterback Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) who threw for 1,515 yards last season along with eight touchdowns.  Also returning is running back Jalin Hudson (Syracuse, N.Y.) who paced the ground game with 318 yards last season.  Top receiver and touchdown leader Marcelino Da Veiga (Central Fall, R.I.) is back after leading the team with 494 receiving yards to go along with five touchdowns.  The AMCATS senior class of Ronte Cooper (Bristol, Conn.)Josh Green (Quantico, Md.), and Emmanuel Leake (Providence, R.I.) will also be relied upon to help guide Anna Maria during the season.

Other notable non-conference schools on the schedule are cross-town rival Becker College, Nichols, and The Apprentice School from Newport News, Virginia. Becker College is slated to be the season opener for the 'Cats on September 7th.

Fans will be able to enjoy three out of five conference matchups this coming season on AMCAT Field as Dean, Maritime (N.Y.), and Gallaudet will be making the trip up to Paxton.
