Football Defeated by Gallaudet's Second Half Performance

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Football team fell to the Bison of Gallaudet this afternoon in conference action 29-9 on AMCAT Field.

 

Offense

 

The Bison (1-2, 1-0 ECFC) were led in passing by Senior Quarterback Timel Benton who finished the contest 5-11 for 72 yards and one touchdown through the air, along with 34 yards on the ground. LJ Watson was on the receiving end of Benton's touchdown pass, as he caught 2 for 29 yards. Gallaudet's steady run game production came from Cassmeir Hutchinson who had 150 yards on just 10 attempts. Hutchinson was able to break away in the 4th quarter with an 80 yard play as he beat the AMCAT defense down the sideline for a score. RJ Randle also put up 69 yard on the rush with only getting 7 attempts.

 

The AMCATS (0-5, 0-1 ECFC) passing attack came from freshmen Quarterback Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) as he completed 17-of-31 for 147 yards and one score, he also had 2 interceptions. Jalin Hudson (Syracuse, N.Y.) compiled 66 yards on 16 attempts. Anna Maria sophomore receiver Marcelino Da Veiga (Central Fall, RI) tallied 8 catches for 80 yards and was on the receiving end of Cohen's touchdown pass.

 

Defense

 

Gallaudet's Lorenzo Fuller led the defense with an interception that he returned for 31 yards, to set up his offense with great field position. Fuller also totaled 4 tackles in the contest. Demontrai Lewis also contributed an interception for the Bison Defense. Lewis compiled 7 total tackles and was tied for the team high with Christopher Webb.

 

Anna Maria's Aiden Folster (Wappingers Falla, N.Y.) led the AMCATS defense with 14 total tackles in the ball game with 12 coming on solo efforts.

The Bison will be back on the field October 13th at 12:00 PM as they will take on ECFC opponent Castleton University.

 

The AMCATS will be back on the road this coming week to face off against Castleton University on the 6th of October at 2:00 PM in conference action.
