‘Cats Fall to Bison on the Road

DUDLEY, Mass – The AMCATS were on the road Friday night for a non-conference matchup with the Nichols College Bison. Wide Receiver Marcelino Da Veiga (Central Falls, R.I.) shined for the AMCATS scoring twice in the game.

ACMATS Freshman quarterback Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass) made his first collegiate start, passing for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Da Veiga was the recipient of both touchdown passes, one of which was a 68-yard strike. De Veiga finished the game with five receptions for 146 yards. Freshman running back Jalin Hudson (Syracuse, N.Y.) rushed for 93 yards on 23 carries; a 3.7 yard per rush average.

Nichols saw quarterback Mike Pina score five times, three times on the ground, twice through the air. He completes seven of 19 passes for 123 yards. As a team, the Bison gained 317 yards on the ground.

Anna Maria fell behind 7-0 in the first half and went in to the half down 14-7 following the second quarter Cohen to De Veiga hook-up. At the end of the night the AMCATS fell to 0-2 with a 35-14 loss to Nichols.

The AMCATS are on the road next Saturday against Curry College at 1pm.
