- The Lead: The Gallaudet University football team rewrote the school record book Saturday afternoon with a 73-23 defeat of Anna Maria College at Hotchkiss Field. The win is the first for Gallaudet this season and its first Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) win.

How It Happened:

-Gallaudet set numerous team records to go with many individual and personal best marks. The Bison racked up 939 all-purpose yards, tallied 765 offensive yards, ran for 622 yards, scored 11 touchdowns which includes 10 rushing touchdowns. All marks are new program records during the modern era of Gallaudet football.

-Sophomore quarterback Timel Benton (Columbia, S.C.) ran for 128 yards on four carries and scored two touchdowns (57- and 62-yard runs) in the opening half. Benton completed 3-of-6 passes for 140 yards before he was lifted in the second half.

-Gallaudet's defense had three interceptions and recovered one fumble in the third quarter alone. Freshman strong safety Jack Gray (Atherton, Calif.) picked off a pass at the Gallaudet 5 and returned it 95 yards for the touchdown as Gallaudet led 73-17 at the 3:53 mark in the third. Gray's 95-yard interception return for a touchdown is tied for the second longest in program history with Neal DiMarco (9/9/2011 vs. Catholic).

-The Bison scored 39 points off Anna Maria turnovers (three fumbles, three interceptions). GU's defense held Anna Maria to only 79 rushing yards on 36 carries.

-AMCAT junior quarterback Emmanuel Leake (Providence, R.I.) finished the game 16-of-32 for 318 passing yards and one touchdown. Senior wide receiver Trai Weaver (Waterbury, Conn.) caught eight passes for a game-best 177 yards and one touchdown.
