Eagles Soar to 42-0 Win over Football

BANGOR, Maine - Cory Brandon was responsible for five of the six touchdowns on the day to help propel Husson to a 42-0 win over Anna Maria in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action on a rainy Saturday Afternoon at Winkin Sports Complex.

Husson (6-1, 4-0 ECFC) improves to 17-1 in their last 18 ECFC games, while Anna Maria loses its fifth consecutive to the Eagles and falls to 2-7 in the all-time series.

HUSSON LEADERS

Brandon connected on 14-for-20 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns to become the first quarterback to pass for 300 yards in a single game since Husson revived its football program in 2003, while tying the single-game record for most touchdown passes. Brandon struck for touchdowns of 32, 53, 25, 93 and 21 yards on the day and did not throw an interception. The 93 yard touchdown pass that Brandon threw to Deon Wiggins in the first half set new Husson single-game record for the longest touchdown pass and the longest pass reception.

John Smith ran 34 times for 231 yards and a score to help the Eagles gain the fifth most rushing yards in a single-game with 403.

Wiggins caught five passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, Saintard added three catches for 92 yards and a score, while Kadeem Edge recorded four catches for 70 yards and two scores.

Leading the way for the second ranked defense in the nation was Ellis Throckmorton who recorded a team-high 10 tackles (8 solo, 2 assist), 3.5 tackles for loss while adding a career high three sacks for 25 yards with a forced fumble and a pair of quarterback hurries to help the Eagles limit Anna Maria to 37 yards of total offense and three first downs.

AMCAT LEADERS

For the AMCATS, Darius Jones-Clark (Baltimore, Md.), Gregory McGoldrick (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Joseph D' Onofrio (Everett, Mass.) combined to connect on 11-of-30 passes for 49 yards. St. Clair Ryan (South Easton, Mass.)  rushed 11 times for 14 yards. Trai Weaver (Waterbury, Conn.) caught three passes for 20 yards.

Jarius Ransom (Williamstown, N.J.), Michael Hall (East Providence, R.I.) and Carlos Ribeiro (New Bedford, Mass.) recorded 13, 12 and 9 tackles respectively.

Husson travels to Becker on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a 12 p.m. kickoff. Anna Maria returns home to host Mount Ida on Saturday, Oct. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
