Baseball Splits with Norwich

Paxton, Mass: The Anna Maria Baseball team split their double header against conference opponent Norwich University this afternoon wrapping up their regular season schedule. The AMCATS dropped game one by a score of 4-2, and took the second 4-1 in Northfield Vermont.

Records: Norwich 6-21, 4-10 GNAC. AMC 17-23, 6-10 GNAC.

The Cadets totaled just seven hits in the contest along with six walks, and only three strikeouts. Chris Dayos had a productive first game going 2-for-3 with a game high two RBI's. Jacob Barlow hit in the last run on his one hit. Connor McGee tallied two hits along with crossing the plate twice.

The AMCATS had one more in the hit column than the home team with eight, but were only walked twice. Jason Shell (Sandwich, Mass.) was responsible for one of the runs after he hit a solo homerun, which was his only hit of game one. Greg Gehring (Southold, NY) was able to hit in the team's last run on his one hit.

Pitching

Jake Ryan will get the win (3-4) after pitching six innings, with only seven hits allowed and two earned runs. Chris Henderson came in to close it out for Norwich, as he was awarded his first save of the season.

Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) suffered the loss (2-5) after five and one third innings pitched. He gave up six hits and only two earned runs.

Game Two

The second contest of the afternoon was a very quiet affair with the Cadets only getting three hits and the AMCATS only seven. Kevin Lynch, Connor McGee, and Michael Koytikh were credited with the only Norwich hits.

Noah Holland (Sandwich, Mass.) had a game high with his two hits for Anna Maria. He also tallied one of the four RBI's, along with Jason Shell, Greg Gehring, and Fili Veras (Sleepy Hallow, NY). All three were able to gather one hit, through three at bats.

Pitching

Jack Marzec (Northbridge, Mass.) will get the win (4-2) after a complete game effort with only the three hits allowed and no earned runs. He did however walk six batters, while striking out seven.

Tanner Raymond suffers the loss (1-6) after going five innings, with five hits and three earned.

The AMCATS conclude their regular season and will look forward to making the playoff. As it stands right now they are in the 6^th and final seed. Baring a sweep of Johnson & Wales by Norwich they will have a play in game against JWU to make it to the tournament.
