Mazec's Shutout Leads Baseball to Sweep Over Chargers

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Baseball Team took down the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer in both conference contests with scores of 5-0 and 5-1 at NEBC.

 

Records: Colby-Sawyer 4-18, 2-6 GNAC. AMC 11-20, 3-9 GNAC.

 

Game One

 

The Chargers could only muster two hits, with both coming from Charlie Danaher as he was 2-for-3.

 

The AMCATS tallied nine hits with Nick Genatossio batting in two of the five Anna Maria runs on his one hit. Jackson Dobek (Natick, Mass) got two hits out of his three at bats, he also scored two runs. Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) went .500 (2-4) from the plate with batting in another run for the 'CATS.

 

Pitching

 

Jack Marzec (Northbridge, Mass.) will get the win putting him at an even 2-2 on the season. He was able to go the distance allowing only two hits with eleven punch outs.

 

Ryan Glendye will fall to 1-5 on the season after going five innings with eight hits and five earned runs given up.

 

Game Two

 

Colby-Sawyer was able to pick up a few more hits with five total in game two. Austin Butler picked up a team high two hits, while Charlie Danaher picked up the only Charger RBI on his one hit.

 

Jake Crevier (Ware, Mass.) and Greg Gehring (Southold, NY) both went 2-for-3 with one RBI and scoring once apiece. Between the two they accumulated four out of the five runs for the AMCATS.

 

Pitching

 

Adam Twitchell will pick up his first win of the season, making him 1-4 after five innings of work with only four hits and one earned.

 

Tim Unczur will suffer the loss dropping him to 2-3 after giving up five runs and five hits in four innings.

Anna Maria will be back on the diamond tomorrow afternoon at Rhode Island College, with a 1:00 PM start.
