Baseball Comes up Short to Monks in Extras

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Baseball team dropped two games last night to conference opponent Saint Joseph's College 8-5 and 11-3 at Clark University in Worcester.

 

Records: SJC 18-6, 4-2 GNAC. AMC 8-18, 1-7 GNAC

 

Game One

 

Greg Emanuelson had the big hit for the Monks in game one, as he hit a three run homerun in the top of the tenth to put them on top. Emanuelson ended the game with four total RBI's on two hits out of his five at bats.

 

Kosta Drosidis (Holden, Mass.) went yard twice in game one to give him his two hits and three RBI's as he produced more than half of the AMCATS offense in game one. The Other two runs her batted in by Jake Crevier who was 0-for-4 going into the bottom of the seventh inning and was able to tie the game up with a two RBI single up the middle.

 

Pitching

 

Jonathan Marchia got the win (3-3) with his three innings of work and allowing only one hit while striking out five.

 

Jack Marzec (Northbridge, Mass.) didn't get a decision but pitched very well in his six and a third innings giving up only six hits with two earned runs and five strikeouts.

 

Liam Cunningham (Northbridge, Mass.) was tagged with the loss (1-2) in his three and a third innings as he allowed six hits and four earned runs.

 

Game Two

 

Joey Murphy was tied for the team high runs batted in with two after going 1-for-2 with a walk. Jared Gagne also pushed across two more for the Monks on a 1-for-3 game two.

 

Drosidis continued clubbing the ball in game two with his first at bat being a third homerun and his fourth RBI. Kosta would tally one more hit in the game giving him a 2-for-3 line with two RBI's and a run scored. Nick Genatossio (Sutton, Mass.) would be responsible for the last AMCAT run on a sacrifice fly as he would finish with one hit on two official at bats.

 

Pitching

 

Zach Begin got the win (2-0) after a four inning outing, where he only allowed three hits with one earned run and five punch outs.

 

Colin Pipkin (Peoria, AZ) will be credited with the loss (1-4) after going three innings allowing three hits with six earned runs and seven walks.

 

Up Next

 

The AMCATS will travel to play another conference double header this afternoon against the Suffolk Rams with first pitch coming at 1:00 PM.
