Baseball Drops Game to Worcester State

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Baseball Team fell to Worcester State this afternoon in non-conference action 7-2 at NEBC in Northborough.

 

Records: Worcester St. (7-2), Anna Maria (7-8)

 

The Lancers bounced back from falling down 0-2 early in the first inning with a huge five run fifth inning, that was started off with a Sam Allen three-run homerun. Allen went 2-for-5 with the three RBI's and one run scored. DH Michael Ferrara batted in two more runs for Worcester state on a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Kenan Kolanda picked up two hits today going 2-for-4 and playing lights out from second base turning five double plays.

 

The AMCATS were only able to tally four hits against the Lancer pitching staff, with Noah Holland (Sandwich, Mass.) getting two of those four. Holland ended the day with a 2-for-4 line with two singles and one run scored. Kosta Drosidis (Holden, Mass.) was able to hit in one of the Anna Maria runs on his one hit of the day. Drosidis went 1-for-3 tallying his fourth RBI on the last two days.

 

Pitching Decisions

 

PJ Walsh will get the win for Worcester State with his five innings worth of work. He allowed only three hits and just two earned runs.

 

Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) will be tagged with the loss as he gave up five hits with five earned runs.

The AMCATS will be back at home this Saturday as they start conference play against Albertus Magnus. First pitch is scheduled to be at 12:00 PM.
