Field Hockey Announces captains for 2019 Season

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Field Hockey Team’s Head coach Brooke Brigham announced this morning who the captains will be for the upcoming 2019 season.

Coach Brigham named senior Allyson Shaw (Holden, Mass.) and senior Anne Melanson (Grafton, Mass.) as this seasons captains, “These student athletes bring positive energy, a great desire to succeed, and leadership that will put us ahead for the 2019 season”.

Ally will be entering her third year as an AMCAT on the Field Hockey team, looking to continue to build off of her best season last year. Shaw ended last season with ten points more than the year previous for a total of eighteen. Those points coming on a six goal and six assist Junior campaign where she played and started in all seventeen games.

Anne will be competing in her fourth season and looking to build off of her best season yet. Melanson had a career high seventeen points on six goals and five assists in 2018 putting her six points higher than the previous year. Overall, she has played in fifty-five games for Anna Maria and has started in all but one of those contests.

Field Hockey looks to improve on last season’s successes of making it into the GNAC playoffs as the sixth seed.
