Anna Maria Golf Tournament a Huge Success

STERLING, Mass – On Monday, June 25th, Anna Maria College hosted their 9th annual golf tournament at Sterling Nation Country Club in Sterling, Mass, sponsored by Sodexo and nearly 50 other sponsors. What was a great day for golf was also a great day for Anna Maria College as 144 golfers came out to support the college and athletic department.

The day began with registration, refreshments, meet and greets with Anna Maria College staff including Athletics Director Serge DeBari and President Mary Lou Retelle and auctions that included items with the new Anna Maria AMCATS logo which was revealed official on Thursday, June 21st, as well as Red Sox and Patriots tickets with the grand prize being a golf trip for two and three night stay at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Once registration was complete the 144 golfers teed off, shotgun format, and began their rounds of golf. While on the course golfers were able to enter in to a 50/50 raffle and participate in a long drive competition and closest to the pin contest. Also provided to the golfers was a beer tasting by Wachusett Brewery out of Westminster, Mass with four different beers and one of their seltzers.

Following the round of golf on what was a 75 degree, sunny day in Sterling, the golfers and volunteers were treated to a reception and luncheon inside the clubhouse. During lunch a video highlighting the 2017-2018 athletic year was played followed by a slideshow of pictures taken during the golf tournament. Following lunch, the winners of all the raffles were announced as well as the winning team which won with a score of 53 on the par 70 course.

When all was said and done it was announced that the tournament raised nearly $85,000 for the college and athletic department. On behalf of the athletic department we would like to thank Sterling National Country Club, all of the sponsors, everyone that participated in the tournament and all of the volunteers who helped make it happen.

Next year's tournament venue and details will be announced at a later date.
