Hammond and Rapoza Awarded Conference and Worcester Area Honors

PAXTON, Mass – Earlier today the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) announced their weekly basketball awards.

From our women's team, freshman guard Franny Hammond (Worcester, Mass) was awarded the conference and WACBA Rookie of the week. Hammond average 6.5 points in two games last week with her best score line, 11 points and 6 rebounds coming in a loss.

From the men's team, Sophomore forward Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass) was awarded WACBA player of the week. Rapoza grabbed his sixth and seventh double-double efforts in Utica, N.Y. Last week. He scored 19 points and grabbed 10 boards in a losing effort against Utica. On Saturday he scored 11 and pulled down a career high 21 rebounds in a comeback win over SUNY Canton. 

Mike Rapoza and the AMCAT men will host two GNAC contests this week, against Lasell on Wednesday at 5pm and against Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 12pm.

Franny Hammond and the rest of the AMCATS will play Fitchburg State on Thursday evening at 5pm at home in the Fuller Center.
